Springdale Voted Best Place to Raise Kids
A large advertisement (above) the Chamber placed in the Northwest Arkansas Times on Thursday, December 3, 2009 brags about Business Week proclaiming Springdale as one of the best places to raise kids (below).

Unfortunately, the background in the photo they used is of Dickson Street – in Fayetteville. Did the billboards get in the way of using a picture in the actual winning city?

I wonder if Business Week considered that 44% of NWA school children qualify for subsidized lunches?

Seems to me that the Chamber is alwasy the first to take out an ad in the newpaper(s) taking credit for what other people have done.I have seen it for years. Why not? They answer to no one and still take our money.Welcome to Springdale! Where everything will stay the same until we get some leadership.

Elwood – if you have an issue, concern, or beef with the subsidized lunches, perhaps you should personally subsidize the 44%, pay your workers more – or get another job (if your children are part of the 44%).
The post by anonymous on Dec. 3, 2009 concerning the $12,000 spent for landscaping is one that comes from ignorance, not necessarily the fault of the writer, but still ignorance. Perhaps you should have the facts before you speak. Look at the date range. Let me remind you – you don’t know what is meant by landscaping, in the general sense. Why don’t you find out, if you are so interested?

Springdale is an interesting choice for “Best Place to Raise Kids,” considering the town is so aesthetically unappealing that the original article in Business Week featured superimposed a picture of a happy, healthy child over the backdrop of DICKSON STREET in FAYETTEVILLE. Maybe the Chamber should spend more money on giving Springdale a face lift instead of spending $12,000 for landscaping at their own office.
