It has been reported by television station 40/29 that sporting goods chain ACADEMY SPORTS OUTDOORS will be breaking ground on a new building in Rogers before Christmas this year.
I’m sure the City of Springdale and their Chamber of Commerce / Economic Development Committee were so busy recruiting businesses in Amsterdam they couldn’t lure this one [...]

FOIA Used to Target Volunteers, Webb Says
Coincidentally (or not) the article in the Morning News 11/17/09 http://smn.nwanews.com/ about Springdale’s 2010 budget meeting wherein the Chamber of Commerce agreed to separate at least the city’s $100,000 portion of funds is the ONLY article online that does not open and does not allow public comments – even with paid subscription.

Chamber Pays Webb’s Family for Landscaping
A compilation prepared by us showing payments made for landscaping or to Perry Webb’s family members, Brandon & Sarah Gordley owners of Showcase Lawns. We were unable to confirm which address was actually being landscaped or why two different companies were being used. The photo shows the size of the Chamber’s lawn.

$12,000 Check for Unknown Purpose
$12000 check
This could be a legitimate expense, but the fact that only one signature is required to write checks of this size and no notation is made as to what it’s for – it’s just bad business practice.
Here’s another one written with only one signature.
