- eLwood:if you have an issue, concern, or beef with the subsidized lunches, perhaps you should personally subsidize the 44%, pay your workers more – or get another job (if your children are part of the 44%).
- Same story:Why should anything change. The City just gave the Springdale Chamber our hard earned money once again (100K). After seeing no results! Makes one wonder "whose car was parked out back last night". We are just living the nightmare of incompetence and arrogance at its best. I hope to live long enough to see this malignant tumor is removed once and for all!
- LOVE IT:You have been exposed as the fraud that you are! LOL To bad Joy Heuer isn't here she had some talent! Congradulations Fayetteville you did your homework.
- anonymous:Love it - you need to get outside and breathe some oxygen
- Blah Blah Blah:1) The picture comes from the Chamber's own website. 2)I think it's unethical to pay one's own family members. They should take bids. What facts are missing since you infer you know things the rest of us ignoramus' don't.
- LOVE IT:The picture seems to be complete to me. The only thing missing is Perry's daughter and son-in law holding their loot! I love the new blog http://foiaspringdale.blogspot.com/. You people rock! Together we will get rid of these morons! They are dragging the entire NWA region down!
- anonymous:Elwood - if you have an issue, concern, or beef with the subsidized lunches, perhaps you should personally subsidize the 44%, pay your workers more - or get another job (if your children are part of the 44%). The post by anonymous on Dec. 3, 2009 concerning the $12,000 spent for landscaping is one that comes from ignorance, not necessarily the fault of the writer, but still ignorance. Perhaps you should have the facts before you speak. Look at the date range. Let me remind you - you don't know what is meant by landscaping, in the general sense. Why don't you find out, if you are so interested?
- anonymous:If the people investigating expenditures are not any more intelligent and knowledgeable than the person the took this picture, this investigation is wrought with inaccuracies and misinformation. If you are going to publicize things - at least make sure you are accurate. This property is much larger than what is shown.
- Santa Claus:The new blog looks great! I hope everyone else is checking it out! Keep up the good work
- outraged:We need to see things like this!
- Same ole thing:Seems to me that the Chamber is alwasy the first to take out an ad in the newpaper(s) taking credit for what other people have done.I have seen it for years. Why not? They answer to no one and still take our money.Welcome to Springdale! Where everything will stay the same until we get some leadership.
- eLwood:I wonder if Business Week considered that 44% of NWA school children qualify for subsidized lunches? .
- :Springdale is an interesting choice for "Best Place to Raise Kids," considering the town is so aesthetically unappealing that the original article in Business Week featured superimposed a picture of a happy, healthy child over the backdrop of DICKSON STREET in FAYETTEVILLE. Maybe the Chamber should spend more money on giving Springdale a face lift instead of spending $12,000 for landscaping at their own office.
- scottws:New format looks good. Old or new, keep on posting.
- Springdalefoi:Thank you for your input. We are currently in the process of transferring data to a blog format http://foiaspringdale.blogspot.com/ to see if that will work better.
- eLwood:Some of your hyper-links don't work. I truly appreciate your efforts to let the sun shine in Springdale but have you ever considered using a different page/blog format?
- Sad but True:I am reading in the minutes that the Chamber raised 256K for the "I AM campaign" Makes one wonder how they were paid on this event. Webb noted that 206K was in cash. Hello Gentleman What is the "I AM campaign"? We are the Chamber and you are stupid campaign. Sounds a little like the Springdale Tommorrow fund. 2.2 Million dollars raised and the prospectus said they earmarked 646K for the historic downtown. Where oh where has our money gone? Off shore?
- Sad but True:Hey Chamber Boy, The businesses in this town are getting smarter since you got caught with your pants down entertaining your bad sleves with our tax dollars and their membership dues. Why dont you admit that you have failed this City and quit whinning that you got caught. Not to worry you will get our tax dollars for 2010 because you did finance that election. Times are changing. OMG! How would you know that? You had to pay Collins 3,000.00 to tell you that Sams left town. Go team go!
- Blah Blah Blah:How is this hurting the honest businesses? Who implied they are crooks? If they choose to throw their money at the Chamber for this crap it is their perogative. The information posted is just that - information. Your 'pee' brain opinion is really irrelevant.
- :Jonah Tebbets is a unrinalist-not a journalist--check your facts pee (not pea) brain. If you don't like fat man Brian or Travelin Perry, then say so. You really are hurting a lot of honest businesses that pay the chamber for trips and group travel and you make them out to be crooks. Sad.
- :what a bunch of trash. most of the people named PAID the chamber for use of that suite. MUCKRAKERS!
- Clueless in Chickendale:I don't see anyone targeting the volunteers, Perry. I think they're targeting you.
- :I read somewhere that a truly non-profit organization should never pay more than minimum wage. Since Perry & friends get all their clothes, food and trips paid for it shouldn't be a problem for them to make ends meet.
- TomP:Not for profit, just out for a good time.
- Mytownaswellasyours:lots of $$ for a postage stamp landscape. (?) If expenses are true, where, then was all this landscaping done?
- TomP:It was a sincere question, reddog. You seemed to have information maybe the rest did not. I wasn't interested in playing games, just honest, potentially conflicting information you indicated you have. If the chamber has a rebuttal or explanations, the citizens deserve to hear it.
- scottws:Pathetic.
- Reddog:Sorry, but I have become bored watching you kids play with matches. You just better be careful, because if you light the wrong fuse, you will get burned.
- Concerned:Congratulations to who ever put this together, for YEARS the Chamber-aka Perry has nickel and dime the businesses they are supposed to "represent" It's time that the businesses get back what Perry and his "Fat Cats" have reaped for so many years. Why isn’t Perry fired and why isn’t he being charged with embezzlement? Thank you Perry for not doing a damn thing for the businesses of Springdale… well except for the ones you took good care of. I look forward to reading MUCH more of expenses Perry and his Fat cats have run up. Thank you for opening this door to the dark side of the chamber.
- TomP:Reddog: How do you know there are expenses in dining and travel that don't belong there? Can you elaborate?
- eLwood:Just doin God's work, I'm sure. Nothing to see heah. Ol Mayor will clean up this mess like a frat boy on his second date..sweep it under the bed.
- Liar Liar:As long as taxpayer funds are going towards this nonsense it will remain an outrage. The City needs to catch a clue and cut off the cash flow.
- scottws:reddog: <> Why did ANYONE get treated to this extravagant trip? The chamber could have supported a local business, saved money, and allowed wider input by meeting at the convention center.
- Springdalefoi:Yes. All handwritten notes, accounting codes, etc. that appear on the American Express statements were written by someone at the Chamber - not our staff.
- :Oh, those are the Chamber's handwritten notes in the margin?
- ACORN:Did you their note on that charge "office supplies" Must have been some floatable post-it-notes
- :Hickory Creek Marina? Does the Chamber have a boat too?
- :Why would the Chamber be renting an apartment? Sounds questionable to me.
- Cheers!:I don't see the players enjoying this benefit. The benefit seems to be going to the people in The Chamber's suite. The players are not allowed in this area. This suite is for the elite Chamber and the choosen few. I do see Springdale Liquor Assocation and Waste Managment reaping the benefits of our taxes. Cheers boys! Enjoy! We work hard so that you can play hard.
- TomP:Looks like the Chamber found the website...
- Jameson:I don't mind how our players live as long as they win games they deserve to live large for all their efforts. Being a player isn't as easy as it sounds, there are tremendous stresses, just like any other job.
- Mytownaswellasyours:Right on, Taxhawk!! In fact, the chamber is a non-profit - Otherwise, no problem.
- 177K:Have you considered a tutor for your grammar? That would be Ace of Spades to you my dear. You voted to do away with feather fest and blew taxpayer money like you do on every trip. Still waiting for your cancled checks and the tooth fairy.
- Reddog:If you had gone you would know that they discussed things such as the need for an overpass at the Don Tyson Parkway, ways to tap into available State development funds and activities, even Emma Street and Springdale High. All of which the coucil, business community, and the chamber have acted and worked on since the meeting and all of which will help Springdale in the future. And yes, just my point 177K, interested businesses and citizens were invited and had to pay. The chamber did not treat them to an extravagant trip to Mt. Magazine. It was working meeting and I was glad to pay. Sounds like you think the chamber should have treated "you" to free trip!!! Your a spade
- 177K:Hello Reddog, you know damn well that is a crock. Citzens that did want to attend were forced to pay for everything. I dont see any deposits to the Chamber with your name on it. How about one of your canceled checks. Lets call a spade a spade And what did we get from that venture... Nada, just more Perry Tales. Reminds me of the "Bass Pro is coming "story Perry hung his hat on for so long. And just where are they?
- Springdalefoi:"It was a very productive meeting." We would be happy to hear what the city of Springdale gained from this meeting. "It's that revenue thing you keep choosing to ignore." We did not ignore any revenue. Everything the Chamber provided us is posted. If you have additional documentation you would like to add please provide it.
- RedDog:the $23k for Mt. Magazine I am sure was for City Futures II, I was there.... along with the mayor, council members, and leaders from all areas of business in Springdale. If you really wanted a hand in shaping the priorities for Springdale, you should have been there too! It was a very productive meeting. And guess what, I paid them to go, and they paid Mt Magazine. It's that revenue thing you keep choosing to ignore.
- Chux:Are you still pleased and proud, Hanby? I'm not.
- :What is the Chamber buying at Land's End? Perry's pastel sweaters?
- taxhawk:Who cares how much of this was "reimbursed" and who cares whether it was for extravagant travel or not. The chamber has a right to do whatever they want with their own private donations. That is between the Chamber Leadership, Its Board, and Its Members. It doesn't matter if the travel was earned as a commission or not. The chamber is a PRIVATE organization and can spend dollars however it chooses. What it CANNOT do, is spend tax dollars without accountability. Easy solution. No more tax dollars to the chamber....and the chamber spends its private funds however they darn well please.
